Proof of Work invests immense energy in random number generation, a system which is not sustainable for a network that uses compute power for complex workloads. Other solutions require you to run the same work on multiple computers to detect potential anomalies, making them less sustainable than traditional data centers.

Proof of Stake is an efficient consensus alternative, but it rewards early adopters instead of real work contributors. It does not reward you for active work you are doing right now and it cannot validate or verify the data to track them.
